2025 started out with an explosive bang for Shinedown. Winning two awards at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, they took home Rock Artist of the Year, as well as Rock Song of the Year, both for “A Symptom of Being Human,” off 2022’s Planet Zero.

“A Symptom of Being Human” is credited with reaching 125 million global streams and counting. It impressively made five different radio formats:

#1 at Active
Top 10 at Alternative
Top 10 at AC
Top 15 at Hot AC
Top 20 at Top 40

Notably, Shinedown is the “very first artist to get a song on Top 10 at Active, Alternative, and Hot AC Radio on Mediabase with one song.” It’s no wonder Shinedown have embarked on a massive tour, hitting arenas around the US. Further, hits like “Dance, Kid, Dance” and “Three Six Five” have reached the ears of even more listeners, beefing up an already-devoted fanbase:

Most importantly, through all the fun and excitement, Shinedown have partnered with Musicians On Call, an organization that provides live music in hospitals, and has done so for the past 25 years, cheering up those suffering. Musicians On Call uses a variety of formats to bring patients music in order to cater to everyone. If bedside performances aren’t possible, virtual and streaming sessions take place. Volunteers, families, and caregivers are also helped as much as the patients themselves. All note the importance of the “healing power of music,” and its ability to transform. As such, Shinedown will be donating $1 for every ticket sold.

In fact, Shinedown is no stranger to charities. They even have a specific page on their website, called #ShinedownShares. They list organizations they are passionate about, and ask fans to consider donating. Shinedown takes their platform seriously, noting that:

“Our fans / FAMILY have given us a platform to make music and to be ourselves. This platform has also given us the chance to leave something in the world and try to make it better than we found it. It’s one thing to talk about it, but another to give yourself to others. We believe we can help make an impact when we join together, whether that be through give-back programs, supporting charities, or helping bring awareness to inequalities. That, to us, is the true spirit of rock n’ roll.”

By engaging fans in this pursuit, Shinedown has spread what it means to not only be a good citizen, but a good person in the world, keeping others’ and their hardships in mind, and working to write those wrongs.
