Meet Pleasure Pill: Debut Studio Record, Hang a Star, Out on June 27th
Pleasure Pill
SPIN called them a “millennial Oasis.”
If that’s not enough to hook you, picture this: two brothers, a lead singer and a rhythm guitarist, obsessed with the making of music. You add in a few friends with that equal love and determination, and create your own dreams in real time.
Hailing from San Diego, Pleasure Pill is exactly what their name implies: pure power indie rock with hits of dopamine that feel like fireworks. Skaters and punkers at heart, Pleasure Pill made their own, unique take on the music scene and performed anywhere they could, including community centers.
They then developed a local buzz, a following, and soon, major labels began to court them, though the advent of Covid caused a huge decline in signings and chances taken on new artists. Nowadays, a following is what execs are looking for; however, not every band is lucky enough to have one without that major label deal, causing a huge conundrum.
Instead of allowing this to knock them down, Pleasure Pill got right back up and continued to follow their vision. They began to write
“songs inspired by British music from the invasion era classic pop to seminal 90s bands like Primal Scream and the Stone Roses.”
With large publications such as Spin, Under the Radar, and Paste giving early excitement and accolades, Pleasure Pill is soon to be that hit we desperately need in these times. Check out “Line Up The Stars” below!
