New Music: Max McNown’s “Same Questions”

Max McNown

Already triumphantly classified as a “breakup anthem,” McNown’s back with another new heartstring-pulling track. A viral TikTok king, McNown knows how to hype his fans up for everything he releases, and it’s this connection that made his star grow in the first place, interacting with listeners from all over the world, sharing his life and work in real time.

“Same Questions” is made up of McNown’s signature sound, a folk-country-pop mix with sweet vocals wafting over the chords. On “Same Questions,” McNown charts a relationship over time, from meeting someone to losing that someone. Queries abound in every stage of a relationship, from beginning to end. McNown notes,

"When I wrote 'Same Questions' I knew I wanted to write a breakup song, but in a different way - through the lens of questions that get asked in relationships. From ‘how many kids will we have’ to the early basic questions, like ‘where are you from.’ Everyone and anyone in a relationship has asked some version of these questions throughout love and loss."

In the interim, McNown has been collecting more accolades on top of the immense amount of praise he’s already gotten. Amazon declared McNown is a 2025 Amazon Music Artist to Watch, Billboard’s Country Rookie of the Month. Grammy.com has called him one of the “brightest newly-minted stars to come out of Nashville in recent years,” a testament to how much McNown’s work has touched the ears of so many, both critics and listeners alike.

McNown is continuing his sold-out A Lot More Free tour, and has added dates at some of music’s biggest summer festivals: you can catch him at Boston Calling, Lollapalooza, and CMA Fest, among others.
